GET INSPIRED #SewingSkye
This is my first TATB pattern, I made a practice version in a lovely soft double gauze in the size 9 which was a little looser than I preferred. I made a second in a lovely Indian cotton from Merchant and Mills in a size 7 which fit more closely but still comfortable for a hot day. I shortened the shoulder area during the construction step. Great pattern and such a lovely summer dress
Hi Mardell, thanks so much for leaving us a review! It's so great to hear you were able to adapt the pattern to suit your style - your dress is beautiful! I hope you enjoy wearing it, and happy sewing! Virginija x
Lovely dress pattern and I learned some new skills too! I loved it so much I made 2!!
Easy sew, I did however make a few adjustments.
The armholes sat VERY low on me, so i shortened the straps. The pockets were also too low for me so I shifted them too.
I ended up lining the tops of mine too instead of binding. It started out because my fabric was too thin, but now I do it just because I prefer it. With thin fabric, I line the skirt too.
I'd love to add a little ruffle sleeve to a future Skye too, I think that woud look extra sweet.
Perfect dress for Australian summers
Hi Clara, thanks so much for your thoughtful review and sharing your picture. We love hearing how you made Skye work perfectly for you... shortening the straps and shifting the pockets are great fit tweaks, and lining instead of binding is such a smart solution for lighter fabrics. Ruffles will be so cute for your next one! Happy sewing! Abi x
