GET INSPIRED #SewingLeah
Loved this make, feel like there are so many options to play with.
Took my time with the binding and it’s so worth it was it’s a lovely finished. I used a light weight viscose and the bias tape and stay stitch worked perfectly. I’ll definitely use this method going forward.
As always, fantastic instructions and great value with all the options.
Can’t write anymore, I’m about to start my next make!! 😁
I've sewn the top without ties or any gathers.
I made my first attempt using the size chart, and I didn't like the fit. But that gave me the information I needed for a better 2nd attempt.
I had to size down 1 size overall and then sized down several sizes on the neckline to get a deeper neck.
I honestly thought this would be an easier sew but it was my first time using bias binding to finish the neck and armhole hems, and the instructions did leave me with a few confused moments.
Overall very happy with my finished item and I love how versatile the pattern is, so I am excited to try some of the other views.
Hi Nicole,
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us a review! I’m sorry you found the Leah pattern a challenging sew. It’s always worth double-checking the finished garment measurements against your body measurements and making fit tweaks to suit your preferences, but it sounds like you’ve changed everything you needed to make this top/dress your own!
Looking forward to seeing what you make!

Having learned from my first Tilly pattern being too large I adjusted this pattern making my own personal pattern from the Tilly one for the perfect fit. I suggest trying thus as you may need to do the same. For me it worked! I’m so pleased I now have a perfect template to follow for the shirt, a tunic and full length dress. I will use this again and again
As you can see. I modified this pattern easily instead making ruffles instead of gathered sections. It is a very floaty summer dress now. I’ve to finish the back but the front is nearly there. I may add sleeves later but I found I can use sleeves from another Tilly pattern to do this. I highly recommend these patterns. I’ve tried so many this last month and failed so many times. I was starting to give up, but Tilly gave me inspiration to try one more time, I’m so pleased with the results. It’s the best. This pattern gave me courage to try my own ideas too, as you can see it worked nicely. Please make more. Thank you Tilly and the buttons.
Really looking forward to making this pattern up.
