My Instagram followers can take full credit for the title of this post after I showed them a work-in-progress peek the other day - thanks guys!
This is my second version of the Closet Case Files Carolyn pyjamas. I made my first pair in a snuggly stripe double gauze, with long sleeves and full length trouser legs. The pattern also includes this short sleeve, short shorts version, which I thought would be really cute for the Summer sewn in this lovely lightweight kitty print cotton lawn.
Before you ask, the fabric is from Japan. Sorry if you're nowhere near there! (If you do plan to go, here's where I went fabric shopping in Japan.) If you know somewhere online that stocks the same fabric, do leave a link in the comments below.
I lurrve how grumpy the kitties look. Now that I say that, I had a scary dream last night about a deadly scorpion-cat - hmm... maybe the print has entered my subconscious...
There are lots of lovely details on this pattern, such as the piped cuffs and collar, as well as a faux fly and shorts pockets which you probably can't see in the photos. The construction is a little fiddly but worth it for the classic design.
I spent a bit of time making sure pattern matching the main pocket piece to the front shirt... and then promptly gave up when it came to the top of the pocket and poured myself a glass of vino instead! You have to choose your battles :)
